Connect the Art for the Cure is working hand in hand with the Nexxus to encourage the community to prioritize and examine their health through artistic events and series. This will be specifically geared towards spreading awareness of cancer, its effects, early detection and prevention of this disease.

Mr. Coy LeBron Poitier

Coy Lebron Poitier is the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Buffalo Soldiers Heritage and Outreach Program Coordinator, preserving and promoting a pivotal legacy across Texas. A recognized leader featured in ‘Who’s Who in Black Dallas’ 5th Edition, he is also a dedicated pastor and former U.S. Marine.
As a passionate historian, Mr. Poitier is a co-founder of the Lampass Colored School Conservancy and has served for over 10 years on the Dallas County Historical Commission(DCHC), where he is instrumental in the designation and protection of historic landmarks.
Beyond history, he is an accomplished environmental steward: a certified Texas Master Gardner and Texas Master Naturalist, and the former Executive Director of FAWC Conservatory, where he co-founded a community urban farm. His policy leadership includes serving as Chairman of the USDA Farm Service Agency’s Dallas Urban County Committee and as SW Area Director for NAFEC.
Mr. Poitier is also an award-winning filmmaker and keynot speaker who has contributed extensively to civic life through his service on numerous influential boards.
